Job Title:
Bi-Lingual Counselor (Spanish)

Description:
Briarpatch Youth Services has an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work as a bi-lingual counselor with our Intensive Supervision and Youth Restitution Programs.

Qualifications:
 BA in human services or a related field, or equivalent work experience
 Two years of paid experience working with youth ages 10-17
 FLUENT in Spanish and English
 Good writing skills
 Demonstrated computer skills
 Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
 Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of the Dane County Juvenile Court system and good communication skills are important.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 Conduct client intake/assessment interviews and negotiate behavioral contracts with clients.
 Manage a caseload of 8-10 court-involved youth.
 Provide individual support and mentoring services to youth.
 Coordinate family meetings and competency development groups.
 Monitor and assist clients with completion of court ordered restitution and/or community service obligations.
 Consistently maintain case files for all assigned clients. Prepare and submit written progress reports on all client related service delivery to the Juvenile Court.

Hours:
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required.

Transportation:
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance is required.

Compensation Package:
Starting pay is $32,160 per year.  Benefits include: health, dental, life, & disability insurance; paid holidays; SEP/403B plan; flex spending account; mileage reimbursement; and generous paid time off.

Job Title: Parent Support Specialist

Description:

The role of the Parent Support Specialist is done for the purpose/s of providing quality, comprehensive parent support services to parents/families. The Parent Support Specialist will aid in providing support and case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their children and enhancing the parents role as the primary influence in their child’s education and development.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field from an accredited college or university; or, the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience working in a human services or youth development setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides outreach and enrolls eligible parents/families in the Parent Support Program for the purpose of proving comprehensive services.
  • Provides or assists with family intake screenings for the purpose of developing a treatment plan and complying with program requirements.
  • Assist parents/families with multiple areas of need and significant levels of personal and family impairment (e.g. assess alcohol/other drug involvement, parenting/living skills, and goal setting) for the purpose of developing an action plan to remove barriers to family stability.
  • Maintains a variety of electronic documents, client files, and records (e.g. program participation, contact sheets, family files, and referrals).
  • Identify appropriate educational, social, and other support services in the community for parents/families.
  • Participates in planning, development and implementation of  family support meetings and parent involvement events.
Hours: This is a 20 hour per week position with flexible office hours Monday-Friday which includes evenings. Some weekend hours are required.

Compensation

Package:

Starting pay is $14.50 per hour

This is a non-benefitted position.
