Job Title: Youth Supervisor - LTE

Description:

Youth Supervisors will provide quality employment programming to youth facing barriers to employment. Supervisors will work in pairs, supervising youth in a variety of service projects in specific communities around Madison. Multiple positions available.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; background in social work, psychology, or education preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with teens; experience working with youth of color and low-income youth strongly preferred
  • Available to work for the duration of programming (May 21-August 17)
  • Knowledge of Positive Youth Development, Restorative Justice, and Trauma-Informed Employment preferred

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with teens and community partners
  • Plan and supervise project work throughout the summer
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring of teens
  • Ensure safety of teens, staff, and community members
  • Communicate with teens and families regarding job performance
  • Effectively manage behavior of teens
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and/or data as required by program

Hours:  

15+ hours per week beginning May 21st through August 17th. Must be available Monday-Friday 12pm-6pm.

Transportation:

Access to reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance required.

Compensation Package:             

Starting pay is $15.00 per hour.  This is a non-benefitted position.

Briarpatch provides shelter, counseling, support, outreach, employment, and supervision services to more than 3,000 runaway, homeless, at-risk, and court-involved youth annually.

Job Title:
Youth Counselor / Case Manager

Description:
This position provides services to youth clients of the Briarpatch Runaway & Homeless Youth (RHY) Program. Services may also be provided to family members and youth not staying on site.

Qualifications:
 Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in human services or a related field from an accredited college or university; or, the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience working in a human services or youth development setting.
 Applicants should possess a working understanding of Trauma Informed Care, Positive Youth Development and Harm Reduction.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 Provides intake assessment, counseling, and case management services to youth and their families.
 Oversees the daily living activities of youth staying in the shelter. This may include providing assistance and support for meal preparation, completion of daily chores, laundry and similar household responsibilities.
 Establishes and maintains client files; documents client contacts and completes case related documentation in accordance with RHY Program and agency standards.
 Provides assistance and support to volunteers, interns and other RHY staff.
 Maintains a working knowledge of RHY Program and agency policies and procedures.
 Participates in RHY Program on-call staff rotation.
 Answers the RHY Program help-line as necessary.
 Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned.

Hours:
Full-time positions are 40 hours per week and are typically scheduled between the hours of 9am-9pm Monday through Friday. Part-time positions are scheduled up to 29 hours per week and cover mostly evenings, overnights and weekends. Some nights and weekends required of all staff in our organization.

Transportation:
All staff are required to have a valid driver's license in good standing with auto insurance.

Compensation Package:
Starting pay is $14.50 per hour -- Additional compensation based on experience, professional licensure, bi-lingual ability and level of education. Full time positions are benefitted as listed below. Part Time positions are non-benefitted.
