Job Title:
Bi-Lingual Counselor (Spanish)

Briarpatch Youth Services has an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work as a bi-lingual counselor with our Intensive Supervision and Youth Restitution Programs.

 BA in human services or a related field, or equivalent work experience
 Two years of paid experience working with youth ages 10-17
 FLUENT in Spanish and English
 Good writing skills
 Demonstrated computer skills
 Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
 Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of the Dane County Juvenile Court system and good communication skills are important.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 Conduct client intake/assessment interviews and negotiate behavioral contracts with clients.
 Manage a caseload of 8-10 court-involved youth.
 Provide individual support and mentoring services to youth.
 Coordinate family meetings and competency development groups.
 Monitor and assist clients with completion of court ordered restitution and/or community service obligations.
 Consistently maintain case files for all assigned clients. Prepare and submit written progress reports on all client related service delivery to the Juvenile Court.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required.

Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance is required.

Compensation Package:
Starting pay is $32,160 per year.  Benefits include: health, dental, life, & disability insurance; paid holidays; SEP/403B plan; flex spending account; mileage reimbursement; and generous paid time off.

Job Title: Americorp Runaway Homeless Youth Program Counselor

Job Description: This position provides counseling and case management to youth and their family members and provides support for volunteers in the Briarpatch Runaway & Homeless Youth Program (RHY). Duties are performed for outpatient clients and for youth residing in a temporary shelter facility.

Qualifications: Experience working with at-risk youth. Effective communication and organizational skills. Spanish language skills a plus. Valid driver’s license required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides intake counseling, case management, and referral services to youth and their families.
2. Establishes and maintains case files on assigned clients. Documents client contacts in case files, and completes case-related documentation in accordance with RHY Program and Agency standards.
3. Provides assistance, support, consultation, and training to RHY Program volunteers to assure that clients receive quality services in a timely manner.
4. Maintains a working knowledge of RHY Program and agency policies and procedures.
5. Participates in RHY Program on-call staff rotation.
6. Answers the RHY Program help-line as necessary.
7. Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned.

Work Hours: Flexible hours; some evenings required. Agency is open 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday-Friday. Living Allowance: $12,630.00 for 1700 hours in one year; ($526.25 gross per pay check, semi-monthly). Education Award after one year’s service: $5815.00.
